Shame Shame…

Generally I start my day by visiting the websites of NDTV and CNN-IBN and this post is a reason of doing so. An army jawan has tried to misbehave with a girl and she, inturn beat him up in the public. This horrible incident has happened in the Haflong town in Assam.  When I watched the 7.5 minutes video in NDTV, I felt really bad for three reasons. ONE – This has been committed by an Army Jawan, who is supposed to be an epitome of bravery. TWO – The Army chief and his fellow army men were trying to protect him, rather than taking him to task. THREE – The people in the streets are just having fun watching this and no one truly tried to ask for justice. You can hear people shouting ‘Maro, Maro’, but no one is even ready to confront the army jawan except for the press guy (I think) who was recording the video. The girl’s bravery is to be appreciated, she even goes to the extent of boarding the army jeep along with the jawans, clearly knowing that they are trying to save him.

Just imagine, if people who are ’suppposed to’ protect the country and its citizens are indulging in such acts, why wont seasoned criminals do this? Amidst of the rich cultural heritage of India, there are many such derogatory incidents happening. Let’s see what justice the girl gets…

Hogenakkal issue and Rajini

For the past few days, the Hogenakkal issue has been occupying the front pages of all newspapers. Its evident that there’s too much of unneccessary politics going around regarding this issue.

Rajini’s speech in the meeting was correctly (!) misinterpreted by the Kannada activists and they say that they would neither allow Rajini into K’taka nor screen his films. This would not affect Rajini in anyway and the activists are using this RAJINI issue as a means to gather popularity and divert others from the main issue. We should appreciate Rajini’s gesture of speaking and behaving in the perfect manner.

I dont see any sense in burning effigies or damaging public property like buses (remember, its our tax which is going to ashes!). Instead, efforts must be taken by the people concerned to smoothly sort out the issue. Surprisingly (and sadly too!), there isnt much of response from the Central govt. Perhaps, they are worried about the elections and their image at Karnataka. I feel that our CM’s stand of postponing this project is correct, since it will encourage a intellectual approach towards this problem and not a sentimental one.

Right from the Cauvery issue, the entire country is aware of K’taka s nature.

Even in the current issue, our stand is correct and their claim is absolutely wrong. This has been proven with scientific and historical evidence.

I strongly condemn the ownership of natural resources by states. After all we all belong to the same country and its a matter of sharing. K’taka shd follow the principle of ‘LIVE AND LET LIVE’ It is known to everyone that Hogenakkal belongs to us. If K’taka keeps on behaving in this manner, how will we quench our thirst?

Vijayakant correctly argues, ”What would happen if we cut power supply to K’taka from Neiveli?” Instead of adopting a tit-for-tat approach, the issue can be approached correctly and the dispute should be sorted out by the central govt in a smooth manner.

Let’s see what other comedies happen based on this issue…

jai jawan jai kisan…

kudos to NDTV for conducting a discussion regarding our INDIAN ARMY. Due respect & recognition ought to be given to ARMY persons , even when they are alive…( this was a nice point put forth by the wife of an officer, who lost his life). In a country like ours, it is very sad that, we are not even considering armed forces as a career option ( In England, even the Queen’s grandchildren have to compulsorily serve the armed forces for a minimum duration). It was touching to hear from an officer who lost his eyes in an army operation. In fact, he was very happy to be a part of the discussion( as it involved emerging cadets). The Govt should take measures to promote armed forces , and should recognize the sacrifice of the officers ( & their families too) when they are alive…
