Rajni MANIAC!!!
The popularity of our Super * (haiyo… haiyo) has spread to South Africa as well. If you got to see Proteas’ pacer Ntini during net practice, he showed the BABA MUDRA…When I saw that pic for the first time, I thought it to be a coincidence. But, various articles confirmed that Ntini is a RAJNI FAN.
Here is the article reg this in YAHOO NEWS…
“Looks like the Rajini mania has spread as far and wide till South Africa.
The visiting South African team’s fast bowler Ntini has recently confessed his obsession to the superstar’s movies and his style in particular. Ntini sure seems to be fond of Rajinikanth’s style statements and demonstrates the actor’s famous finger tricks for Baba.
Besides, he makes people drop their jaw by imitating the ‘Peraketaale Summa Adirudilla’ tagline from the last year blockbuster Sivaji flawlessly that stands proof to the number of times he watched the movie.
Apart from Sivaji, Ntini also declares that he has watched Baba many times from where he picked up the finger gesticulation. Ntini’s revelation has earned him many amused fans in Chennai where he is stationed along with his team for the first test cricket series against India.”
This is a proud news for all RAJNI fans…

CinemaPRIYAN – 3 – Taare Zameen Par!!!
I don’t know whether I would be able to write a review for such a kind of film hereafter. I mean it, really. I didn’t expect such a great work from Aamir.
Type : Emotional
Bottomline : Problems faced by a dyslexia-affected child and how he gets out of it.
Imagine a film that has no fights, no love scenes, no villan, no duets, no lengthy harangues and thats Taare Zameen Par for you. This film has broken all silly rules of Indian cinema. It is one among the very few class films, that are and have been released in India.
The film revolves around the world of children, with the mark made at the beginning of the film itslef. I could spot lots and lots of kids along with their parents, in the theatre. It was difficult to believe that it is the first film for Aamir, as a director. He has done a marvellous job, I should say.
The hero of the film, surprisingly is a child named Ishaan(character’s name). He has a lot of problems with studies, games and lots more. He doesn’t do any thing, which a normal child does. Ishaan loves to watch animals and be with them. Ishaan loves to paint and is skillful in that too. We would roll into laughter when Ishaan runs as soon as he comes home, to sit with stray dogs. He is contrary to his brother, who excels in studies and games. His teachers and his parents think that he is lazy and thus doesn’t study (even the audience think so initially). Ishaan has great difficulty in even wearing his dress properly. Ishaan’s parents put him in a boarding school, thinking that he would improve. There, Aamir understands that Ishaan has dyslexia and helps Ishaan to come out of it.
All the characters have acted(I should say, they lived in their characters) exceptionally well. The child Ishaan is simply fantastic, right from making us laugh initially to making us cry for him later. I swear, I have never ever cried in a theatre before. The film had such an impact that, I literally cried (more than once!) while watching the movie. Don’t conclude that its a kind of an art film, not at all. It is meant for everyone, irrespective of ages.
Kudos to Aamir and his entire team for having done so much of study beforehand. Their efforts are evident from the film. Aamir has done an exceptional job in direction. He has taught a lesson to all parents. All the songs are blended with the film and come as background scores only. Great job by Shankar-Ehson-Loy. The creative team has also done a good job.
The movie not only potrays the problems of dyslexia, it deals with many problems faced by children. The director has touched various issues like “teachers’ handling their students, expectation of parents on their children etc”. The film has to be watched carefully, as it has lots of minute details. For instance, the methods in which aamir gets Ishaan out of Dyslexia, shows their preliminary work done.
Aamir comes in screen only in the end of the first half. No other hero would have that courage. All the characters like Ishaan’s parents, brother, teachers etc have acted exceptionally well. Aamir has the talent to give a realistic and touching movie, delivering a great message.
On the whole, a must watch film for everyone, especially parents.
+ ves : Story, screenplay, music, characterization… infact everything
- ves : nothing.
Points awarded : 5/5 !!!
Even those who dont understand Hindi can also watch the film, coz’ the message is communicated to the heart directly.

CinemaPRIYAN – 2 – BILLA !
I was also one of the sweet victims of the BILLA fever. I watched this movie in one of the best theatres in Mumbai. I should say it(both the ambience and the film) was a great experience.
Type : pakka entertainer
Bottomline : Old wine in a new, refreshing bottle
Before we start with the review, I want to share 2 coincidences associated with this film. The first one is that, I met my friends in that theatre, which was totally unexpected. The second one is that, the second(lucky!) movie to be reviewed by CinemaPRIYAN is also a “double-action” movie.
The story of this movie is known to all, but the way in which it has been taken – amazing!. Since the entire movie has been shot at Malaysia, the movie is pleasing to eyes. Thanks to director for maintaining the characterization of the BILLA Ajith. Right from the start, the director has succeded in maintaining the ‘what next’ scenario. Ajith has simply rocked in the movie. The 2 characters are entirely different – Billa Ajith is a very serious character and has very little dialouges(thank God!) and the other Ajith is Jovial in nature. Ajith suits perfectly well in the huge shoes of Super Star. It is not an cake-walk to handle a character which has already done by a great Super Star.
The 2 heroines Nayan and Namitha also have a considerable role to play. Nayan is in great shape, I tell you! Prabhu and Santhanam are 2 important characters in the movie. The adulation that Prabhu got in his introduction scene shows his popularity. The duo – Second Ajith and Santhanam strike a great pair. Their comedy track gets along with the movie well and the audience are sure to have a hearty laugh. Prabhu is also a victim of second Ajtih’s comedy. Kudos to the director for maintaining the suspense element(by diverting our concentration away from Rahman) and for allowing comedy in this film. The training sessions of the second Ajith was enjoyable.
It would be a great fault if I fail to mention the exellent Music and background scores(which is very important for this kind of movie). “My name is BILLA” song rocks. Thanks to Yuvan for not spoiling the melody and originality of the tune.
Other notable characters are Rahman, Billa’s team etc. Rahman has proved that he can handle any character with ease. May be because the first half made us sit in the edge of our seats, I felt that the second half had little suspense. The climax was a bit ordinary. Kudos to the entire team, their efforts are evident from the film.
On the whole, the film is a great entertainer and a ‘must watch’ film.
+ve s : Screenplay, Background music , direction, Ajith-Prabhu-Santhanam
-ve s : Climax
Points awarded : 4.6 / 5.
Meet you all with the next movie’s review. TIll then enjoy !

BILLA !!!
I didnt even imagine in my wildest dreams that I would meet my friends accidentally in Mumbai. Me and my sister were in the theatre for watching BILLA. As we got our tickets and entered the theatre, I was shocked(of course, in happiness only) to see my friends(classmates), sitting in the second row. We had a great time in the theatre. Thanks to BILLA… Whatever it is , luck or destiny, I was happy. Certain things are beyond our perception, TRUE !

Introducing CinemaPRIYAN !!!
hi all, I am extremely happy to introduce the character ’CinemaPRIYAN’ to all of u. This guy watches a lot of movies and loves to analyze them.
The first and lucky(!) movie would be “VEL”.
Type : Commercial movie
Bottomline : Usual ’double action’ hero subject, but in a plausible form.
The story starts in the same way as that of the previous double action movies that we have seen. The twins get seperated in the train and are brought up in different places. 1 surya with the original parents in Chennai, the other one in a big traditional family in dindukal. The Chennai guy is a detective and the other surya’s job is to FIGHT for his family and his people.
Surya has shown excellent maturity and difference between the 2 characters. Let it be thrashing the villans, Love with Asin, Detective work, Surya simply ROCKS!!! Thanks to the Director for the characterisation of Surya. Music is by YUVAN, believe me. Leave alone enjoying the songs, I cant even remember them.
The Villan is Kalabhavan Mani, being his assigned his usual role – ECCENTRIC VILLAN. Clashes between the DIndukal Surya s family and Kalabhavan Mani occur very frequently. At one point of time, the two surya s meet and they realise that they are siblings.
As u expect, they interchange positions and the detective Surya with his entire team, creates trouble for the Villan. Coming to Comedy, Vadivelu proves himself again. His comedy track is exceptionally good and comes along with the film. Asin has been given some chance to act as well. Saranya, mother of Surya(s) is crying through out the film. Charlie and Lakshmi show their expertise in acting.
There are lot of coincidences in the film and Illogical situations too. But, the Screen play is so rapid that you are not given time to think about all these things. It would be better if Director HARI forgets ‘ARUVA’. As usual, too much of violence in the film.
Second half is much interesting due to the detective work of Surya. His methods of tackling Kalabhavan Mani, are enjoyable.
On the whole, a ‘pakka’ Commercial movie with some flaws, which are overcome by the SCREENPLAY.
+ve s : Surya, Vadivelu, Screen play
-ve s : Lengthy dialogues, Music, Violence.
Points awarded : 3.7 /5
Meet you all with the next movie’s analysis. Till then enjoy !!!

SHIVAJI – THE LEGEND …
Last week, I had the oppurtunity to watch MAHAKAVI KALIDASA movie in Vijay tv. Shivaji Ganesan once again proved that he is the MATCHLESS, LEGENDARY ACTOR. In one half of the film, his character was timid and in the other half, righteous & brave. The difference shown by him in the film was simply amazing.
Watching his films sevaral times, never bores me, instead it makes me wonder each time. Thillana Mohanambal, Karnan, Motor Sundaram Pillai, Viyatnam Veedu, Paasa Malar, Kandhan Karunai, Thiruvilayadal, Kalatta Kalyanam, Veerapandiya Kattabomman, Thirumal Perumai, Thevar Mahan are some of my favourites ( list will be non ending).
He has created such an impact in all of us that, whenever we hear the name Kattabomman, we get reminded of Shivaji. Kudos to this govt for having installed his statue in Beach Road, Madras.
When I was a child, I had the great oppurtunity of seeing him in a marriage, but couldnt speak with him…
This post is a small tribute to the best actor in the Film history. I would be very happy if you share your favourite movies of Shivaji Ganesan.
