Say a BIG NO to self medication – contd…
As a continuation of the previous post on self-medication, this post illustrates yet another real-life incident. The word SAD cannot just describe the severity of this incident.
Prof. Bhattacharya of IIT – Bombay, a person in 30’s was hale and healthy like most of us till that incident happened. Now, he is in a state of COMA for the past one year. The reason behind his current state is a medicine/tablet called BRUFEN. This is a popular pain-killer, taken widely. The prof. had had a finger pain and wanted to take this (pain) killer. His doctor had advised him not to take it for a minor finger pain. But, he being hasty took BRUFEN, wanting immediate relief from pain. The medicine had some violent reactions within his body and resulted in pushing him to a state of COMA.

I am not inferring that BRUFEN will always lead to such a state. What I mean is that, it is not at all advisable to take any medicine without the Doctor’s consent. If you observe my example and this prof’s case, a common point is that both of us wanted immediate relief. We should understand that our body needs some time to heal and we are not aware of the intensity of various tablets.
The Doctors also warn that too much of Parasitamol would result in LIVER damage.
Let us all pray to almighty that the prof. gets cured and the experiences of the prof and me should serve as a lesson to every one who takes medicines on their own.
