Happy New Year !!!

hi all. Wish you and your family a very happy and prosperous 2008. As we approach the new year, ‘resolutions’ also come along with it. Survey shows that most of the people break their resolution within a week’s time. This time, We can all have realistic resolutions and work towards acheiving it. I can suggest a simple, but a powerful quote

“If you dream it, you can do” – Walt Disney

Likewise, if we set a goal, work for it and dream of it always, success is bound to come. Happy new year !

Man’s best friend !

‘Reading is the best hobby in world’ – True. I am thankful to some people by whom I have been inspired. Of late, I have been reading a lot of books (not only fiction). Initially, reading novels was a bit tough and infact boring too! But as soon as I completed one book, the quest for reading more and more was there. I have been engrossed with this reading hobby to such an extent that I get envious of people working in book shops like higgins! Once you start reading, you will realize this for yourself.

CinemaPRIYAN – 2 – BILLA !

billa2007ajith.jpgI was also one of the sweet victims of the BILLA fever. I watched this movie in one of the best theatres in Mumbai. I should say it(both the ambience and the film) was a great experience.

Type : pakka entertainer

Bottomline : Old wine in a new, refreshing bottle

Before we start with the review, I want to share 2 coincidences associated with this film. The first one is that, I met my friends in that theatre, which was totally unexpected. The second one is that, the second(lucky!) movie to be reviewed by CinemaPRIYAN is also a “double-action” movie.

The story of this movie is known to all, but the way in which it has been taken – amazing!. Since the entire movie has been shot at Malaysia, the movie is pleasing to eyes. Thanks to director for maintaining the characterization of the BILLA Ajith. Right from the start, the director has succeded in maintaining the ‘what next’ scenario. Ajith has simply rocked in the movie. The 2 characters are entirely different – Billa Ajith is a very serious character and has very little dialouges(thank God!) and the other Ajith is Jovial in nature. Ajith suits perfectly well in the huge shoes of Super Star. It is not an cake-walk to handle a character which has already done by a great Super Star.

The 2 heroines Nayan and Namitha also have a considerable role to play. Nayan is in great shape, I tell you! Prabhu and Santhanam are 2 important characters in the movie. The adulation that Prabhu got in his introduction scene shows his popularity. The duo – Second Ajith and Santhanam strike a great pair. Their comedy track gets along with the movie well and the audience are sure to have a hearty laugh. Prabhu is also a victim of second Ajtih’s comedy. Kudos to the director for maintaining the suspense element(by diverting our concentration away from Rahman) and for allowing comedy in this film. The training sessions of the second Ajith was enjoyable.

It would be a great fault if I fail to mention the exellent Music and background scores(which is very important for this kind of movie). “My name is BILLA” song rocks. Thanks to Yuvan for not spoiling the melody and originality of the tune.

Other notable characters are Rahman, Billa’s team etc. Rahman has proved that he can handle any character with ease. May be because the first half made us sit in the edge of our seats, I felt that the second half had little suspense. The climax was a bit ordinary. Kudos to the entire team, their efforts are evident from the film.

On the whole, the film is a great entertainer and a ‘must watch’ film.

+ve s : Screenplay, Background music , direction, Ajith-Prabhu-Santhanam

-ve s : Climax

Points awarded : 4.6 / 5.

Meet you all with the next movie’s review. TIll then enjoy !

BILLA !!!

I didnt even imagine in my wildest dreams that I would meet my friends accidentally in Mumbai. Me and my sister were in the theatre for watching BILLA. As we got our tickets and entered the theatre, I was shocked(of course, in happiness only) to see my friends(classmates), sitting in the second row. We had a great time in the theatre. Thanks to BILLA… Whatever it is , luck or destiny, I was happy. Certain things are beyond our perception, TRUE !

Great show by Yuvi and Sourav

83448.jpgI was also one of the millions of disappointed fans, when India was struggling on 61 runs losing 4 wickets. The partnership between Yuvi and sourav was the only hope for India. Who said Yuvi is not fit for the longer version of the game – his innings was a feast to watch (slurp!). His shots were stlyish and the most important thing is that, the way in which he handled the pressure was simply amazing !

Coming to dada, his knock was also very fine, coming at the right time. Their partnership played a pivotal role today. Pakistan have to repent for their misfields, dropping Yuvi at 12. His brilliant knock of 169 runs proved him again. On being questioned about his inexperience in tests, he sharply retorted ” If I have to learn Test cricket, I should play more tests”  – really true. He deserves to be in the squad for sure.

Lets hope India wins the series 2-0.

How Stuff Works!!!

sword-swallowing-81.jpgThanks to Sriram for introducing this fantastic site to me… I have gained a lot of useful info from this site. I wish to post some interesting articles from howstuffworks.com.

“How Sword Swallowing Works”

Some people think of sword swallowing as a magic trick. After all, as with most magic tricks, sword swallowing doesn’t seem like something that should be possible. It can be a little easier to accept the idea that it’s all an illusion than to believe that a person can guide a long piece of metal all the way into his stomach.

Several sources support the idea that there’s a trick to sword swallowing. Famed magician and escape artist Harry Houdini wrote about sword swallowing in “The Miracle Mongers, an Expose.” According to Houdini, some of the sword swallowers of his time swallowed metal sheaths before their performances.

There is a trick to real sword swallowing, but it doesn’t involve illusions or preemptively-swallowed metal tubes. Instead, it involves lots of physical and psychological preparation.

The act of swallowing a sword is an interaction between two fundamentally dissimilar objects – a human being’s upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract and a sword. You can think of the GI tract as a living scabbard that the sword slides into.

To know how it really works, refer this link http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/sword-swallowing3.htm

Me in Utopia !!!

It was about 9 in the morning. My mom had been asking me to go to a STORE for buying some things for home. Reluctantly, I started towards the STORE in my bike.

To my astonishment, there was no garbage in the road, the roads were sparkling clean with no bumps too! I saw people throwing wastes in Dust bins installed in each corner of the road. There is a tea shop in my locality which used to be thronged by crowds, who satiate(!) their hunger for SMOKING at that tea shop. Adding to my astonishment, there was nobody smoking in that shop. I stopped my bike and enquired the shop-keeper about this wierd contradiction. He told me that, all the tea-shops (and other shops too) have unanymously decided to ban all tobacco products.

Bewildered by this shocking news, I started my journey towards the STORE. At one place, though the traffic signal was not working, every one were waiting for their turns patiently !!! In another place, I noticed that a Police man (brisk and lean!) warned a person who tried to bribe him. While I passed a temple, I almost collapsed on seeing that there were no beggers in the front of the temple.

Due to all this excitement and shocks, I completely forgot about my errand for MOM. Suddenly, I received a thud on my shoulder… I opened my eyes to see my MOM standing  in my room, asking me to wake up, as it was 10 in the morning !!! THINK GUYS !
